The Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control held a workshop at its headquarters in Riyadh to discuss the articles of the International Agreement on Pandemic Response and Prevention (WHO CA+ INB) with members of the Public Health Emergency Network and International Health Regulations liaison officers from member countries.
The significance of this workshop lies in the exchange of experiences and knowledge among representatives of the Gulf Council countries. The focus was on gaining a better understanding of the content of the International Agreement. Technical representatives from the Gulf Council countries presented their proposed amendments to the draft agreement, contributing to its improvement and development.
The workshop included discussions on several important issues related to the implementation of the draft International Agreement. These issues encompassed monitoring and risk reporting processes, responding to international public health emergencies, research and development, technology and knowledge sharing, as well as supply and transportation lines.
This workshop provided a valuable opportunity for International Health Regulations (IHR) liaison officers from member countries to exchange experiences and knowledge on how to implement the provisions of the agreement in the best possible ways. Emphasis was placed on the common areas between the International Agreement on Pandemic Response and Prevention (INB) and the International Health Regulations (IHR).
As a result of this workshop, a proposed joint statement was formulated, consolidating the perspectives of technical members from the Gulf Council countries. This reflects the Gulf Center's commitment to enhancing regional cooperation and strengthening collective efforts for disease prevention, control, and effective pandemic response within the Gulf region and beyond.
