Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Saeed bin Hareb Al Lamki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman, and with the participation of representatives from member states and international experts, a regional workshop on calculating the Healthy Life Expectancy Index in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries was launched in the Omani capital, Muscat, jointly organized by the Gulf CDC and the Gulf Statistics Center, as this event comes within the framework of fruitful cooperation between the competent authorities in the field of health and statistics in the region.
The workshop aims to identify specific health standards and indicators that can be used to measure the expectation of healthy living in the region. It is expected that these efforts will contribute to improving the level of health care and enhancing health awareness in the communities of the GCC countries.
His Excellency Dr. Saeed bin Hareb Al Lamki expressed his appreciation for the joint efforts between the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control and the Gulf Statistics Center, noting the importance of determining healthy life expectations as a basic indicator for evaluating and improving the quality of health care.
This workshop constitutes an important step towards strengthening regional cooperation in the field of health and improving the quality of life in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and it is expected to result in the development of a unified framework for calculating a healthy life expectancy index that reflects the aspirations and needs of Gulf society.
