The Public Health Information Department at the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control held the fourth regular meeting of the Gulf Cancer Registry Working Group on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, via video conference, with wide participation from representatives of member states.
The meeting discussed the latest developments in the field of the Gulf Cancer Registry, where a comprehensive report was reviewed on the field visit conducted by a team from the center to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain during the period from May 28 to 30, 2024. A detailed report was also presented on the basic training course for cancer registrars held in the Kingdom of Bahrain on June 3-6, 2024.
These joint efforts aim to build a comprehensive cancer registry in the region, which will enable us to better understand the causes of the spread of this disease and develop effective strategies for its prevention and early treatment.
During the meeting, future steps were agreed upon to develop the Gulf Cancer Registry, including enhancing cooperation between member states, standardizing standards and definitions, and developing analysis and statistical tools.
This meeting comes as part of a series of efforts made by the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control to address health challenges in the GCC countries and the region, and reflects the ongoing commitment to promoting public health and disease prevention.
