The meeting of the supervisory board of the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control at the Health Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council was held on Monday, March 21, 2022 at the council’s headquarters in Riyadh. The meeting discussed the executive plan for the year 2022, which was put forward by Dr. Basi Pantinen, the Executive Director of the Center. The goals and work mechanisms of the plan were discussed, which are all in the interest of the people and health institutions in the GCC countries. The meeting was attended by all members, namely: Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al-Rand from the UAE And Dr. Mariam Ibrahim Al-Hajri from the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Abdullah Al-Qweizani from Saudi Arabia, Dr. Amina Al-Jardaniyya from the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Muhammad Al-Thani from the State of Qatar and Dr. Al-Mundhir Al-Hasawi from the State of Kuwait, and in the presence of the Director General of the Gulf Health Council, Mr. Sulaiman Al-Dakhil. It is worth noting that the establishment of the Gulf Center for the Prevention of Diseases and their control, and his strategic plan was approved by Their Majesties and Highnesses, leaders of countries The Cooperation Council when it was raised to the position of the Supreme Council at its 41st session (Al-Ula, January 2021), where the leaders agreed to establish the “Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control” and activate it quickly to coordinate joint Gulf action in public and preventive health, and to be a Gulf observatory to monitor the spread of epidemics.
