The Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control organized the sixth meeting of the permanent communication network for monitoring and surveillance and a public health information strategy workshop in the presence and participation of representatives from member states. During the meeting, several important issues related to public health and preparedness for future challenges were discussed. The meeting also focused on enhancing data exchange strategies. During the meeting, the challenges associated with exchanging data between member states and how to develop systems to ensure the collection of accurate and updated information that helps in confronting health crises more effectively were highlighted, and the participants stressed the importance of joint work and effective coordination between member states to achieve these goals.
In the workshop that followed the meeting, the goals and initiatives derived from the Public Health Information Strategy were discussed, which included developing monitoring and control systems that support all activities of the Center and Member States, where the need to improve data governance was emphasized to promote a clear and transparent framework for data exchange and research support.
Participants also pointed to the role of research as a fundamental pillar in enhancing public health information and supporting the response to future health challenges, and stressed the need for continued cooperation and knowledge exchange between member states to achieve the best results in the field of disease prevention and control.
This meeting comes within the framework of the Centre’s efforts to enhance public health and biosecurity in the GCC countries, and is an important step towards achieving greater integration between member states in facing current and future health challenges.
