The Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control, in collaboration with the Oman Lipid and Atherosclerosis Society, is participating as a strategic partner in the 20th edition of the International Atherosclerosis Symposium, to be held in Oman’s capital, Muscat, from December 4 to 6, 2024. The event will bring together a distinguished group of experts and specialists from around the globe.
The symposium, held every three years, is one of the most prominent scientific events in the field of atherosclerosis. It aims to highlight the latest research and medical advancements in this area, while also discussing innovative prevention and treatment methods. The event is expected to attract over 2,500 specialists from various parts of the world.
This edition holds particular significance as it is the first to be hosted in the Middle East since the symposium's inception in Chicago in 1967. The International Atherosclerosis Society’s board has entrusted Oman with hosting this global event, which features significant participation from leading scientists, physicians, and specialists in the field.
During the symposium, the Gulf Center team will present research papers and scientific presentations that highlight regional efforts to combat risk factors associated with cardiovascular diseases. Topics will include the future of shared registries in GCC countries, monitoring non-communicable diseases, a case study on investments in non-communicable diseases, and awareness initiatives aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles across the GCC region.
This participation reflects the Gulf Center’s commitment to supporting scientific research and enhancing regional and international cooperation to address health challenges. It aligns with efforts to reduce the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and improve the quality of life for populations.
