The Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control, in collaboration with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, organized a 12-week virtual training course on the applications of the statistical programming language (R). The course was conducted by Dr. Moath Al-Dosari, Associate Professor at King Saud University, lecturer at Harvard University, and visiting assistant professor at Boston University, along with Dr. Talal Al-Shuhaib, Assistant Professor at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences and visiting assistant professor at Boston University.
The course aimed to develop essential skills in data organization and enhance participants' abilities in managing, analyzing, and visualizing public health data effectively.
The training included practical applications using real data derived from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, providing participants with hands-on experience in handling and analyzing data using scientific methodologies.
This program is part of the center's ongoing efforts to build capacity and enhance competencies in biostatistics and public health, contributing to evidence-based decision-making and improving the quality of health data in the region.
The center emphasized that this initiative reflects joint Gulf cooperation and addresses the growing need to develop specialized technical skills, aiming to achieve an advanced health system based on knowledge and innovation.
