The Arab Health Exhibition and Conference, which was held in Dubai, witnessed active participation from the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control. Within the framework of this important event, the Center presented a workshop entitled “Health Efforts in the Field of Public Health,” which was presented through the experiences of the Gulf countries in this field, highlighting three main topics that constitute focal points in its health policy.
The first topic, the health mall, dealt with the innovative methods followed by the health mall project in promoting and raising health awareness, developing an environment that promotes healthy lifestyles, encouraging physical activity, encouraging healthy behaviors, partnership and cooperation, as the mall works to achieve effective partnerships with concerned parties and cooperate with them to support public health.
The second topic, the confidential voluntary HIV counseling and testing program in the State of Kuwait, was presented as an example of the efforts made in the field of infectious disease prevention. Emphasizing the importance of this program in early detection of infection with the virus and providing support and appropriate treatment for those infected.
The third topic was about multi-sectoral cooperation to prevent non-communicable diseases, highlighting the great importance of cooperation between various health and non-health sectors to address the challenges of non-communicable diseases. It was discussed how to achieve integration between different parties to promote public health and prevent these diseases.
In conclusion, the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention’s participation in this conference is evidence of its commitment to promoting public health in the region and highlighting joint efforts in this field. The Center hopes that these activities will result in the development of innovative strategies and solutions that serve public health at the regional and global levels.
