The Department of Public Health Programs and Policies at the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control held the second meeting of the Road Safety Task Force on Monday, June 23, 2025, in Riyadh. The meeting was attended by representatives from GCC member states along with a group of experts and specialists in public health and road safety.
The meeting discussed the Center’s efforts to address road traffic injuries and mitigate their health and social impacts, reflecting the Center’s commitment to enhancing road safety across the Gulf. The participants also reviewed the priorities of member states in this field, as a step toward formulating a unified regional framework and strategy that fosters Gulf cooperation and supports the implementation of effective and sustainable road safety programs.
Participants emphasized the importance of adopting a participatory, evidence-based approach in developing the strategy, taking into account national contexts and promoting the exchange of best practices. The Task Force’s work is set to continue in the coming period to develop an executive roadmap aimed at reducing road traffic injuries and fatalities in the Gulf region.
