The Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control (Gulf CDC) convened the third meeting of the Road Safety Working Group in Doha, State of Qatar, on 30 January, in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation, to strengthen regional cooperation in post-crash response and prehospital emergency care.
The meeting highlighted Qatar’s experience and leading international practices in this field, and discussed the assessment of the current status of prehospital trauma care systems (Prehospital Trauma Care – PHTC) across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The meeting also contributed to enhancing coordination and collaboration among the Road Safety Working Group members, identifying priority intervention areas and challenges that require joint regional efforts, while emphasizing alignment with existing national and regional strategies and initiatives. In addition, participants discussed next steps toward developing a GCC roadmap for post-crash prehospital care.
The meeting concluded with a field visit that included a review of the ambulance and air ambulance services provided by Hamad Medical Corporation, as well as a visit to Qatar’s National Command and Control Center, recognized as a leading model in prehospital emergency care.
