As part of its efforts to strengthen the capacities of GCC countries in combating epidemic diseases, the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control organized a specialized workshop on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, focused on forecasting and surveillance models for dengue fever.
The workshop highlighted forecasting models specific to dengue fever in GCC countries, while also discussing the latest tools and technologies used in predicting outbreaks and how they can be applied to support decision-making at both national and regional levels. It also included a practical exercise simulating the use of these models in real-world contexts, thereby enhancing the preparedness of public health teams to address various scenarios.
The workshop further aimed to promote collaboration between public health professionals and data modeling experts in the region, through discussions on multisectoral factors influencing disease transmission, including environmental, climatic, and social determinants.
This initiative comes within the Center’s efforts to support member states in developing advanced predictive tools that help reduce the risks associated with dengue fever outbreaks, strengthen early warning systems, and enhance the ability of decision-makers to safeguard public health.
