Gulf CDC Organises the First Webinar in the Early Cancer Detection Series

The Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control (Gulf CDC), in collaboration with the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), organised the first virtual webinar in its Early Cancer Detection Webinar Series on Wednesday, 24 June 2026.

The webinar was held as part of Gulf CDC’s efforts to maintain ongoing engagement with master trainers and graduates of the Gulf Early Cancer Detection Programme and to promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise among specialists across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. These efforts aim to support the development of early cancer detection programmes and enhance their effectiveness.

The webinar focused on information systems for monitoring and evaluating early cancer detection programmes, as well as mechanisms for inviting eligible participants. These are key components in improving access to target populations, enhancing programme quality, and making effective use of data to monitor performance and measure impact.

The webinar also highlighted the experiences of several GCC countries in this field. Qatar and the United Arab Emirates presented their respective experiences with invitation systems used in early cancer detection programmes, including practical approaches that contribute to improving programme organisation and expanding access to screening services.

This webinar series builds on Gulf CDC’s ongoing efforts to support capacity building, strengthen Gulf cooperation in the prevention of noncommunicable diseases, and advance evidence-based health initiatives and programmes, thereby contributing to improved public health outcomes across the GCC countries.
