The Supervisory Committee of the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control Holds Its 22nd Meeting

The Supervisory Committee of the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control held its 22nd meeting on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Riyadh. The meeting focused on reviewing the Center’s work, assessing developments in its programs and projects, and discussing priorities for the next phase to support its role in advancing prevention and public health in the GCC countries.

The meeting opened with a speech by Her Excellency Dr. Samia Ali Bahram, member of the Supervisory Committee and Chair of the current session, who welcomed the participants and commended the Committee’s efforts to oversee the Center’s work and support its strategic direction, contributing to greater coordination of Gulf efforts in public health and disease prevention.

The Committee also reviewed the minutes of its previous meeting, discussed progress on its recommendations, and received updates on several initiatives and projects included on the agenda.

The Committee reviewed the Center’s performance report for the second quarter of 2026, discussed the Supervisory Committee Charter, and considered updates to the Strategic Partnerships Committee document. It also addressed a number of health and organizational matters to align work plans with strategic priorities and improve the effectiveness of the Center’s programs and initiatives.

The Committee also reviewed the Center’s institutional achievements and key projects supporting public health in the GCC countries, and discussed ways to further develop these efforts and expand their impact. An open discussion was also held with Committee members on strengthening coordination and cooperation in advancing the Center’s objectives, contributing to unified efforts, knowledge exchange, and support for joint health initiatives.

The meeting reflects the Supervisory Committee’s role in following up on the Center’s work and guiding its strategic direction, contributing to greater operational efficiency, the sustainability of its initiatives, and stronger Gulf cooperation in public health and disease prevention.
