Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control Convenes Third Meeting of the Gulf Advisory Committee on Immunization

The Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control (Gulf CDC) convened the third meeting of the Gulf Advisory Committee on Immunization, attended by the committee’s experts and members of the Permanent Liaison Committee for Communicable Diseases in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The meeting addressed several priority topics in immunization, including a review of the outcomes of the committee’s previous meeting and a discussion of the draft action plan for immunizing adults and older adults.

Participants also discussed the current status of meningococcal meningitis and national action plans for its elimination, while exchanging expertise on best practices and policies related to meningitis vaccines across GCC countries.

The meeting forms part of Gulf CDC’s efforts to strengthen cooperation among GCC countries and align technical efforts in immunization, contributing to the development of national and regional policies and programs, supporting the prevention of communicable diseases, and protecting public health.
